The responsibility for these Abandoned Mines rests with the Department for the Economy (DfE). The Geological Survey of Northern Ireland monitor these workings for the DfE. The Abandoned Mines Database contains over 2000 trial pits, shafts, adits, and collapses; This dataset / service provides and index to these workings and is available to view on the GSNI GeoIndex, Spatial NI and for download in a number of GIS formats.
